Korto Momolu Fashion Show

I had the pleasure of working with Korto Momolu at Passion for Fashion Fashion Show. It was a spectacular experience however, rather exhausting experience. When I got to the venue at 10am, they were building the stage and the models were rehearsing with the designers. I had to tape the bottoms of over 50 pair of shoes that were rented from Bakers. My next task was to organize the changing rooms for the 3 designers that were featured in the show.

Cate Lyons is a designer that is based in Savannah GA, and she makes the most glamorous gowns. She can make a very detailed dress in 8 hours and a wedding dress from scratch in a day. She is a veteran in the fashion business. She a well known seamstress who worked in Paris, and with Victoria Secret.

I worked with her first because she was the first designer to arrive at the venue. I helped with the fitting and making sure all the models had the right shoes and right sizes. I organized the racks of clothes by making sure they are in order with the show. Last minute I was asked to sew tool (I think I spelled it right) to the bottom of an evening gown. I sewed in about 3o minutes, but I was so nervous because I had to sew it into the hem so it would not snag the fabric. After all was done, I was running around helping with production, media and make and hair set up. I love love love the background production of fashion show. I loved get my hand dirty while gaining experience and learning as well.

When Korto arrived she was very laid back and so cool. She is very down to earth and made everyone feel so comfortable. I was able to chop it up with her for a minute. The one thing I love about her show is that she had African drums and dancer open her show. It was very exciting and set the tone for an amazing show. I dressed the models, steamed her garments and assisted with making sure they were runway ready. Korto put the finishing touches on all the models before they hit the runway. The runway show was amazing, she started off with African drummer and dancers. When I finally got a chance to sit down and watch the show, I felt accomplished. This was an experience I will never forget. I pray that I have MANY more like it.
